Carhartt WIP Links with London Design Studio Toogood to Chop Up Workwear Classics

Carhartt WIP has recently unveiled its debut collaboration with London-based design studio, Toogood.

Founded by sisters Erica and Faye, the collection reimagines classic workwear staples, including oversized jackets and shirting, in the form of new architectural shapes and voluminous silhouettes.

Inspired by the idea of an everyday uniform, the collaboration utilises classic Carhartt WIP materials such as Dearborn Canvas and lighter Utah Canvas to create a unisex offering made up of the brand’s signature pieces. Dressed in a colour palette of off white, black and “Hamilton Brown”, highlights include Toogood’s Photographer Jacket which has been “spliced, collaged and patchworked” with the Michigan Jacket, and the Explorer jacket which houses elements of Caharrt WIP’s Draughtsmen shirt.

Launching the collection, Erica Toogood said: “This collaboration has come from a very natural place for both brands. Carhartt WIP’s history of modifying historic workwear sits effortlessly with Toogood’s nod to trades and workwear, reimagined and sculpted with artistic freedom. Carhartt WIP gave us permission to cut, hack and remodel these archetypal utility products and link them closer to a sculptural Toogood fit. Combining our aesthetic and cutting style with Carhartt WIP’s construction skill and capacity has been a proud moment for us, resulting in an accessible, durable and iconic product.”

You can check out the collection for yourself at Spazio Maiocchi during Salone del Mobile in Milan and shop the full range now via the Carhartt WIP and Toogood webstores as well as through select stockists.
